HOUSEHOLD WASTE RECYCLING CENTRES

Cambridgeshire County Council provides 9 Household Waste Recycling Centres for members of the public to deposit their household waste free of charge, and to ensure that as much waste as possible is recycled. Donarbon is responsible for the management of all these sites on behalf of the County Council under the PFI Contract and Donarbon does this through sub-contracts with 2 local companies that have managed the recycling centres for many years, Cambridge Recycling and Fenland Recycling.

The link above takes you to Cambridgeshire County Council’s web site, which gives directions to all 9 sites, lists all materials that can be recycled and gives the rules and regulations about using the sites. However, in summary, all sites collect at least garden waste, timber, glass, metals, paper, cardboard, textiles, batteries and waste electrical equipment for recycling. The staff on sites are there to help you; if you need assistance with lifting materials from your car into any of the skips or recycling banks, please ask.

The sites are busy with a number of moving vehicles, so children and animals must stay in vehicles at all times for health and safety reasons. Business waste is not accepted at these sites. Please contact the site in advance if you are unsure about the quantity/type of waste you wish to dispose of. Waste is accepted at the site manager's discretion.

Top tips on using the recycling centres:

Separate your waste before you go - saves time and helps us recycle more of your rubbish.
Recycling centres busy at weekends/bank holidays. Visit weekdays when less busy.
If transporting via van or trailer, contact recycling centre in advance.
