CONSTRUCTION & DEMOLITIONDonarbon operates an extensive construction and demolition drop off, sorting and recycling service at it's Waterbeach Waste Management Park. Donarbon then sorts through this mixed waste, using a range of machinery to separate it into different waste types for reuse and recycling. Our aim in doing this is to achieve 80% diversion from landfill. Construction and demolition waste consists of all wastes originating from construction, demolition, repair and renovation activities by builders, plumbers etc. as well as home DIY renovations by the public who hire skips from Donarbon. These wastes can include concrete, rubble, cardboard, glass, bricks, tiles, soil, scrap metal and wood. Concrete, brick and tile rubble and glass is recycled as secondary aggregates; timber is recycled into chip board, animal bedding or as a fuel. Scrap is recycled into new metal; clean card is recycled a new cardboard and soil is reused at the Waterbeach site for landfill restoration. This all helps to: • Reduce waste disposal volumes and costs Please note, Donarbon is unable to accept asbestos of any type in the C&D Area. If you are involved in a demolition project that contains asbestos, we can provide a special enclosed skip for this material; Click Here for more information about this service. Donarbon is constantly looking to improve its service to our customers and one area of possible expansion is to include machinery in the C&D Area to extract plastics from this type of mixed waste for recycling. Donarbon does already accept large plastic drums (eg. chemical, spray and fertiliser drums) and used fertiliser sacks from farmers and other businesses. These plastics are sent for recycling. The drums and sacks must be completely empty and the drums must be washed inside. Click Here for more information about this service. |
