CAMBRIDGESHIRE WASTE PFI PROJECT
Donarbon has established itself as a leading waste management company in the Eastern Region by securing Cambridgeshire County Council’s £731 million, 28 year waste processing and recycling contract. This long-term contract was let as a Private Finance Initiative (PFI) project.
 The centrepiece of the contract is a £41.5 million state of the art Mechanical Biological Treatment (MBT) plant with attached education centre, plus expansion of the company’s in-vessel composting facility and new recycling infrastructure, to ensure that over 80% of Cambridgeshire’s waste is diverted from landfill. Donarbon has also provided two new waste transfer stations at Alconbury and March and manage the operations of the 9 household recycling centres in Cambridgeshire as part of the PFI contract. EDUCATION & VISITS We welcome visits from schools and colleges, special interest groups, local businesses and the general public in Cambridgeshire. We can arrange for groups to tour the site and see what happens to Cambridgeshire's waste. Activities and workshops for schools and colleges can be organised in the Education Centre. |
