INFORMATION FOR VISITORS

Planning a visit to the Education Centre and the Waste Management Park:

  • Visits can be arranged between 9am – 5pm. Monday – Friday.
  • Visits and tours for schools, colleges, community groups, councils, local interest groups and local businesses are free. However due to the high level of interest in visiting the site we are unable to arrange visits for individuals or groups of less than five people.
  • The maximum group size we can cater for is 40 people.
  • Because of the high-risk nature of our site we are unable to allow children under six years old on site.
  • Tours of the site require a vehicle because of the size of the area. We can provide minibus transport for groups of 17 people or less. However, for larger groups we would expect the group to organise their own coach or additional minibus.
  • Please be aware that the site roads are rough and individuals wishing to use their own cars for a site tours do so at their own risk.
  • Coaches and minibuses can park directly in front of the reception entrance. Cars should use the car park situated to the left hand side of the entrance.
  • On arrival please come to the reception area of the main building, which is clearly signed. A member of the education staff will come and meet you.
  • The site is a Hi-Visibility site and all visitors will be given a Hi-Vis vest to be worn outside during the visit.
  • The education centre is compliant with the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act.
  • The outside site can be very dusty when it is dry and muddy when it is wet. Please bring sensible, strong shoes and/or wellies. Sandals are unsuitable even in summer. Wellies are essential when it is wet.
  • There are spaces for changing wellies and for leaving bags and coats.
  • If you just wish to visit the education centre and see the workings of the MBT plant you will be inside all the time and no special footwear is required.
  • Toilets and hand-washing facilities are available.
  • There is a kitchen in the Education Centre where drinks can be made and packed lunches stored.
  • To view or download our Risk Assessment form please click here: Donarbon Risk Assessments - Visits
